The start of the Great Race looms before us all year long and we look forward to it but its a lot of work and is a hard two weeks on the road. We start working on our 1937 Shafer 8 long before the time comes to leave for our start city. Andrew Givens, GR Ace Wrench award winner in 2005 works for us at Coker Tire and did all the work to get the Shafer ready. The Shafer 8 (car nbr 88) is a wonderful machine and has crossed the USA more times than I can count. Andrew will again be accompanied by Jerry Priesel in our Coker Tire tractor trailer rig. Jerry works in our sales department at Coker Tire and will be helping Andrew set up our display and fix flat tires every evening in each city all the way between Concord, NC and Anaheim, CA.. Coker Tire is again a sponsor of the Great Race and the Official Tire. (more…)

Team Coker is Number One! Yes, that’s right. Number One! Team Coker won their final softball game of the season over Crush Med with a score of 13-11. The win ended the Chattanooga Metro Coed Softball league season with Team Coker the undisputed champions of the league. Coach “Eight Ball” Mary Smith was visibly excited and proud of our team. This last championship game was intense! We had a crowd in the stands too! The rest of the company really came out in support! Read More Here

Some are even made into trophies! We produced this little 250-4 Wide Whitewall Firestone tire to look like an original 670-15 Deluxe Champion Firestone tire. But it’s tiny! We actually developed the tire for a pedal car manufacturer a number of years ago and now sell these little jewels for desktop tire displays (for tire stores and restoration shops) and ingenious uses like the picture you see here. Does it give you any ideas? Does me!

Like we say here at Coker, “its all about the tire!”

Corky Coker

PS. Great Race is comin!

These are certain words that automatically go together. When you say one of these words, you gotta think of the other word that goes with it too. Hot rods and the HAMB are one of those pairs of words that stick on each other. If you are into Hot rods, and can maneuver at all around the internet, there is one place that is an automatic gotta see and you gotta go to: the HAMB. (more…)
