Here’s an update from Honest Mike Goodman, President of Honest Charley Speed Shop and Honest Butch Bass of RTM TV fame on their last day of the Hot Rod Power Tour.

Today’s Power Tour route takes the “Power Caravan” from Evansville, Ind. To Memphis, Tn………. . But for us, today’s the day we break away and and turn due east toward Owensboro, Ky. One of the many things we’ve appreciated about the tour is that everyone can join in and out at will.
We head over toward Boonville, Indiana and across some of the best roads we’ve traveled. At Owensboro we cross the Ohio River via one of the most scenic bridges anywhere. We catch the William Natcher Parkway and enjoy an easy and scenic ride into Bowling Green, Ky. Another 50 miles or so and we pull into Nashville, Tn. To drop off Butch and 2 1/2 hours later I’m back at the shop. So……it’s pretty obvious that we’re not an official member of the long Haul gang, that group or hearty souls who stayed in for all the stops from Cleveland to Little Rock. But what we are is a solid member of the brotherhood of enthusiasts that actually get their collector cars out of the garage and onto the road.
We’ve had a great time and visited with lot’s of wonderful enthusiasts who share both our pride and our passion in this wonderful hobby/pastime. And like all road trips we’ve discovered some things about ourselves and about our car. We realize that getting out on the road is really the ultimate reward for the time and effort we put into building these things. And we’ve learned that a good attitude and positive outlook is really all that’s required to have a great time regardless of the weather or the inevitable challenges that come our way on any road trip.
We continue to be proud of the fine ‘32 Roadster that we put together in just 31 short days. It served us well during our participation in this years Power Tour and in just a few short days will again be our ride for the eastern portion of the Great Race. Most importantly we’ve again realized the value in the wonderful friendships we benefit from. The guys from Spectre and our other contacts really made all of this so enjoyable. And just as importantly……we appreciate you for ridding along with us. Next time you’re in Chattanooga, Tn. we hope you’ll drop by the shop. Until then……we’ll look for you “on the road”. Mike and Butch.
