We had another early start on the 2007 Driven Dirty Tour in Albuquerque, from the Hotel Albuquerque at 630 AM. Wasn’t so hard gettin up early since most of us are East Coasters with internal clocks preset a couple of hours earlier. It was still dark as we headed our hot rods toward the West and the Route 66 RoadRunner Diner. (see video) Ok..it is at a truck stop but was a great breakfast diner style.

This morning it was colder than a well diggers butt- 36 degrees starting off. When the wind hits you in an open car, it feels like it will cut right through ya. Casey and I bundled up like eskimos with face masks and everything. It wasn’t too bad once we got rollin’ and we only had a little ways to go to get to Clinton, Oklahoma where the National Route 66 Museum is. On the way there, we stopped to buy some oil and James Thomas showed us his 51 Dodge Coronet with a 350 Chevy engine. He did the work all himself. Great job James! (more…)

When one of 12 massive aero-styled GM Futurliner vehicles (designed to transport the GM Parade of Progress show across America in the 1940s and 1950s) sold for $4.2 million at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in 2006, a new generation was introduced to the historic significance of this incredible vehicle. The record-setting sale re-energized interest in the remaining Futurliners and set into motion a series of events that allowed Coker Tire to once again be called upon solve a one of a kind tire problem for an iconic collector vehicle.
