Seems each day starts off with a song.  The appropriate tune leavin’ Winslow is clearly the Eagles hit about standin’ somewhere…

I broke Posie Protocol and hooked us up with an additional non-Posie planned stop at my buddy Rodney Rucker’s garage before we headed out of town.  Rodney is one of the craziest car guys I know.   He loves Movie cars, in fact he owns the original Great Leslie which was the big white touring car Tony Curtis drove in the 1963 movie The Great Race. Remember every time Tony Curtis smiled big his front tooth would sparkle?  Rodney also has the evil Professor Fate’s (from same movie) black scissor car complete with heat cone and retractable cannon in front.  He has some of the most outrageous big vehicles using WW2 tank motors, and supercharged crazy stuff you have ever seen. One year Rodney drove one of his super dooper super charged Peterbilts on the Great Race.  I think he told me that from coast to coast he spent something like $9600 bucks on fuel and that when it was only $1.50 a gallon!  And all you folks thought I was crazy!
While he was walking all of us guys around, I kept tellin Rodney “You’re Crazy!” to which he would answer “Thank you”!   That’s a man who knows his place in this world!

Eight of us took a ride in Rodney’s Chrysler powered Shopping cart.  I drove the shopping cart first but weenied a little with all those guys there!  Rodney then drove it, yanking that huge oversized Supermarket shopping cart sled with a bunch of our PDDT pilgrims holding on for dear life!  When he finished yanking that big cart around his lot, all the boys had eyes as big as saucers!

Btw… All of the pictures will be added in a few weeks to the blog at http://www.blog.coker.com so check back later.   I didn’t bring a laptop to download ‘em so will do so after I get home from the SEMA Show.  Right now, am typin out blogs on a crackberry so pardon if I mistype somethin’ !.

We convinced Potentate Posie to take the scenic route down from Winslow to Camp Verde.  Wade says that in a ‘32 Ford on curvy roads “50 mile an hour curves feel like 50 mile an hour curves!”. We saw some absolutely beautiful scenery today!

Scott Whitaker caught up with us by lunch.  He had stayed in Albuquerque to wait out the snow we drove thru.  His little Dynasport Duece has no top and would have been pretty doggone miserable in all that white stuff that hit us!

After chowing down on the best barbeque Camp Verde had to offer (notice I didn’t say good or bad there!! Quite a politician huh?), we headed toward Bob Everts mini farm where his wife raises horses and he raises the coolest, baddest ‘32 Fords I have ever seen.  He had probably 10 or 15 roadsters, a phaeton, vickie’s, 3 windows, 5 windows, a really cool Firestone Duece Delivery.  Now, I have a pretty cool farm back home but Evert’s place is killer too!  Bob, btw was at one time one of the stockholders of So-Cal Speed Shop.  Guess he still is.  Heck of a nice guy with a heck of a car collection!

We then scooted down the hill a couple hours to Old Town Scottsdale.  Mark’s supercharged ‘40 Ford pickup lost its brakes so he and Ken Gross were loaded.  Guess we will see that fixed tomorrow here in Scottsdale.

I’ll sign off now cause it is… dadgum it, time to go eat again!    We have to…b’cause we are “eatin our way across the USA!”

From the road,

Corky
